Compressed Earth Block

Fuqua’s scientific research is centered on the engineering of earthen building materials. Compressed earth blocks (CEBs) are earthen building products that are created from a combination of soil, water, and chemical stabilizer. They present many advantages due to their reduced carbon footprint and use of local and byproduct materials. Fuqua is developing stabilization methods for CEBs for increased strength and durability as well as assessing the relationship between earthen materials and air quality in buildings.
